I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), and certified hypnotherapist (CH.T), in clinical private practice for most of the last 20 years. I'm an undergraduate of the University of Pennsylvania (1982), and graduate of New York University (1988). My clientele are adults, couples, families and kids.
In 2006, I was among 10 Men Of Union County recognized and honored for their work to confront domestic violence in the community. Clinically, I've written about, presented, and published work on, subjects as diverse as sociopathy, narcissistic phenomena, hypnosis, and the abusive mentality (see Published Articles).
I've also enjoyed writing humorously for many years. One of many products of my satirical sensibility is the book manuscript, on couples conflict, that I've made available and readable to my website visitors (What's Wrong With My Spouse?) Over the years I've had much fun joining my clinical and satirical writing interests.
If I had a clinical mission statement, it would be something like this: To engender, in my work with my clients, the process of their discovering and effectively applying their strengths, as they learn how to appreciate and accept themselves more generously.
My clinical orientation is very humanistic. Whatever approach enables me best to appreciate a particular, unique client, is how I listen and relate. As I've noted elsewhere on the site, my boundaries with clients are respectful, but informal. My wish is for my clients to feel as comfortable in my office, and with me, at the earliest juncture possible. |
